Dates for the diary …

Our Current Highlights

Clos Cibonne, Tibouren

As summer is here , why not refresh with a bottle of our favourite Provence rosé. A blend of Tibourne and Grenache grapes this rosé is a firm favourite with our team

Forager’s Gibson

Our seasonal take on a classic Gibson, featuring locally foraged wild garlic.

Paired with vodka, dry vermouth, bitters, and a wild garlic-infused pickle, and finished with a pickled wild garlic flower, this is a refined and distinctive serve (perhaps best saved for after the first date!)

Mince on dripping toast & Orbs of joy

Our highlights would not be complete without our two staple dishes mince on dripping toast and orbs of joy (roscoff onions slowly cooked in chicken stock). Two comforting dishes.

Sarti Spritz

Sarti Rosa (our Aperol alternative) is an Italian aperitif flavoured with blood orange, passionfruit and mango. Our Sarti Spritz combines this with Col Fundo Frizzante and soda water to make the perfect refreshing drink, available on our Happy Hour menu just £9!

SUMMER SUNDAYS!

Manchester’s Finest

“At Almanac in Glossop, the menu is old fashioned. You won't find a foam. There are no gels.” “It’s a neighbourhood restaurant which harks back to a more homely era, with dishes executed with skill and precision. And it’s highly recommended.”

“This is a triumph of a restaurant” - Charlotte Ivers, Sunday Times restaurant critic

“What I’m saying here is that Almanac feels incredibly chic. There are restaurateurs in city centres paying consultants thousands to try to replicate something like this. Here, it seems completely natural.”

“Model of a neighbourhood restaurant” - The Good Food Guide 2025

“Although the restaurant itself had to undertake a hasty rebrand not long before opening, the significant name at Almanac is that of chef-proprietor Luke Payne, established five miles down the road at his Pack Horse pub in Hayfield. Here in Glossop, he's built a positive, capable team with a palpable enthusiasm for feeding people well, while cutting no corners. Above a cosy bar, behind café curtains, a simple dining room serves umami-rich British dishes laced with thoughtfulness and great technique.”

“unashamedly traditional approach” - The MICHELIN Guide 2026

“A bar and restaurant rolled into one, start your visit with a drink from the concise yet quality wine list or classics-with-a-twist cocktail selection. Then turn your attention to the menu of small plates that showcase the kitchen’s unashamedly traditional approach with the likes of mince on dripping toast.”

We are beyond honoured to have been awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand at the 2026 MICHELIN awards, recognising good quality & good value. To have achieved this in such a short amount of time is a testament to the incredible dedication of our small team, our fantastic suppliers & every single person who has embraced a concept quite different for this small town!
